Claudia mentioned today that she’s been enjoying challenging herself physically this summer while taking a break from knitting. She makes a good point that getting older doesn’t mean we can’t be strong and physically fit.
If being able to do 100 push ups is important to me then I’ll find the time in my schedule for it, even when it’s inconvenient and even if it means I have half an hour less to knit.
When I started the 100 push up challenge, I couldn’t do a full push up so I’ve been doing modified push ups for my challenge. It’s taken me two months but now I can do 5 full “man type” push ups and a whole lot more modified push ups than before. That might not seem like much progress for nearly two months of working out, but I’ve NEVER been able to do a full push up.
Being sedentary feeds on itself. A body at rest tends to stay at rest. We get wrapped up in the latest chatter on Ravelry so we don’t make time to stay healthy. We forget how good it feels to move a little, push ourselves a little, sweat a little.
A body in motion tends to stay in motion. Pretty soon you’ll be feeling nice and sweet and sassy! Just ask King Julian.
