Barbie gets a new house

Barbie house

Did you miss me? I snuck in a trip to Texas when you weren’t looking. We had a new dollhouse to deliver to the granddaughters so we loaded up the van and headed south. We arrived in time for their birthday and spent a great weekend going to a soccer game, pool party and dinner celebrating the all-important Ninth Birthday. The trip is a day and a half each way so I managed some knitting time when it wasn’t my turn to drive. I’ll post about knitting another time, which hopefully won’t be quite so long.

In the meantime, take a look at this: a Barbie-size dollhouse, compliments of Jack’s workshop. At first we thought the pink interior was a little overwhelming but it grows on you. And the color did seem to fit right in with all of Barbie’s existing furniture.

The girls didn’t take long to furnish it, even finding the lift-up “attic” useful for accessories.

Nick got a trophy shelf for his room and quality time with Grandpa Jack which they spent discussing Minnesota for some reason.

Since we’ve been back, our lives have been consumed by volunteering for the Obama campaign. It is, at turns, fun and frustrating as hell. No time to write more, less than two weeks and counting and I’m behind in making volunteer calls.

Get out and vote.

(ETA: I’m sorry if the layout of this page is wonky on your computer. There’s something weird about the photo placement that I can’t figure out. I’ll fix it another day.)
