What I did this weekend

I finally broke down and made gingerbread men and decorated them. Can you believe I’ve never decorated cookies before this weekend?  Me neither. I found a recipe for light spice cookies which only required 2 tablespoons molasses, since that was about what I had on hand. (I know, who lets the supply of molasses get low in their cupboard? Tsk. ) (Yes, I’m being facetious.)

I copped out and bought the icing stuff already in tubes at the store. Bleah. It was convenient because I don’t own any decorating tools and I didn’t have the time to buy any. But it tastes horrible. Gack.

Less is definitely more in cookie decoration. Hence the Photoshopped faces.

My camera is back from the shop and works better than ever. Kudos to Canon for fixing my 5-year-old Elph for free, including shipping, instead of trying to sell me a new one. (This was a known issue with the memory card connection.) The service was excellent start to finish and the whole thing took about 8 days door-to-door. If it wasn’t for the seriously teeny-tiny type in their owner’s manual I’d rate my overall satisfaction with Canon at A+++.

If you haven’t read Kat’s great MacGyver adventure, go here. Us knitters should run the world.

We’re having a cold snap this week. It was 4 degrees above zero (15 degrees Celsius) this morning, so the cats have asserted their rights to the warmest spots in the house. We’re under direction not to wake them until it’s either Spring or dinnertime, whichever comes first. Being cats, they’re time-challenged.
