It isn’t?
Oh.
Well there must be a time warp going on in this house because I don’t know where yesterday went. I got busy and bam, here I am, 4 pm on Monday afternoon.
I do have a bunch of posts lined up, all half written, but before I entertain you with those, let me show you what I did yesterday (among the chores and the baking and the exercise, etc.)
This is a little boy’s sweater that I’ve been knitting off and on for maybe 4 years. For the last 18 months it’s been in time out but I decided I’d finally finish it this year. When I pulled it out of its bag this weekend, I was pleased to find that all it needed was the sewing up: a few seams, add buttons and ta-da!, I’d have an FO.
Until I found that sometime over those 4 years, I knit the back at least an inch shorter than the front.
Upon discovering this little setback, I said “Aw, shoot.”
I did, too.
So I had two options: take out the button band, undo the sleeve seams (so nicely done, too), rip out the shoulder seams, frog the back to the arm holes and then re-knit and reassemble the sweater.
Or I could take a pair of scissors to the back, free up the stitches and knit down to lengthen it.
Yeah, I thought it was an easy decision too. Besides I’ve never done it before and I’m all about trying something that I keep telling other knitters can be done.
Of course I kept changing my mind about what to do so I ended up cutting it a couple times, finally taking off about 3 inches. And it would be helpful to know what size needles I used. However I’m a firm believer in not letting your ignorance stop you from trying something new. So I shall Press On, Regardless.*
I’m hopeful the redo won’t take me long and then I’ll give you as many particulars as I can remember.
Meanwhile, if I get my act together, I’ll announce a little knitterly giveaway tomorrow, just because I’m all in the mood.
* This is a reference to one of my favorite authors. It has nothing to do with knitting and it’s a fairly obscure reference. BUT if you think you know what I’m talking about, leave me a comment and I’ll think up something appropriate as a reward. Here are a couple hints: This is the name of something and the happenings in the book took place while the author lived in Missouri although she no longer does. And while Googling might be a logical place to start, it doesn’t appear to help in this case — the road rally is not what I’m looking for.

No idea on the reference, but that is one cute little sweater. Good luck!
Have no idea about the reference but I think you may have stepped over the edge a bit yesterday. Who gets the sweater when you’re done?
