In observance of Earth Day I was going to write this long and earnest entry about how our world is going to hell in a hand basket and we better do something about climate change before we wake up some morning to find polar bears in our backyard eating squirrels for breakfast. Then it’ll be too late to worry about our carbon footprint.

Instead, I give you this 90-second video and a link to the 350.org site which says it much better than I can. For one thing, they know what they’re talking about.

From 350.0rg:

350 [as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere] is the red line for human beings, the most important number on the planet. The most recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.

Currently the planet is at 385 ppm. The squirrels better watch their fuzzy little butts.
