Goose island
Yesterday’s goose encounter reminded me of this photo I took last month. I was putting my cart away after visiting a big box store and noticed orange cones up around an island in the parking lot. Mother Goose apparently took a liking to this tiny patch of dirt surrounded by acres of cement. Some generous soul was supplying her with water and corn during her lying-in period.
I suspicion that my Mother Goose has found a nest nearby because Daddy Goose is on guard 10 feet from my deck. I’m guessing my neighbors were the lucky winners this time although I haven’t been able to spot Momma.

While we like to remember spring as the time when the world turns green and flowers bloom and there are baby animals galore, we forget there’s a down side to the season. Like mosquitoes and ticks. Humidity. Tornadoes.
And shedding.
\Two minutes on my lap
Gus is a walking cloud of loose hair these days. Just being in the same room with him requires vigorous de-furring of my clothes. I made the mistake of petting him and there was loose fur from my nose to my toes. Cleo is no better but since she never sits in my lap I don’t experience the full fuzz effect of her shedding.
Methinks it’s time for their annual bath.

I was royally PO’d to find out about the Yarn School too late to register. How have I missed this before? Harveyville is only two hours away. I could be spending the weekend trying out spinning wheels, learning to dye and generally breathing in fiber fumes. The timing would have been perfect given my current obsession with spinning. Phooey.
To make up for it, I plan to go to the Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival in June. I knew about last year’s event but it was canceled due to flooding. It looks like a neat little festival and I should be able to make the trip in a day.
And that’s all I got for a Friday, chickadees. I think I’ll go see what’s in the knitting basket that needs some attention.

You could get enough fur to knit yourself a cat, if you were so inclined.
Hey, I tagged you for a meme — have fun with it!
You’re covered in fiber! You don’t need to go anywhere, missy.
Let me know if you want some company to the wool festival. Remember we’re going to try and hit a festival in each state and I think this would leave us 47 to go. Do they have these things in Hawaii and Alaska? I’m serious about the festival.
You should contact Nikol at the Yarn School and see about a waiting list, there’s bound to be a cancellation!
ahCHOO! ;o)
