Here comes summer

dragonfly

Welcome to summer chickadees. It’s hot, hot, hot, but in honor of the first day of summer I knit out on the deck for a few minutes until I came to my senses. I’m not really complaining about the heat; that would be obnoxious after spending so much time complaining about our cold spring.

Still, it’s hot, hot, hot.

(not whining)

(really)

Ow. I blame it all on Cookie.

I was doing a quick check of blogs this morning and before I knew it I had joined 3 teams for Tour de Fleece on Ravelry (you commit to spinning every day that the Tour de France bikers ride). This means posting to three different threads.

Since my track record for posting on Ravelry pretty much sucks let this be a lesson to you. Never commit to anything before that first cup of coffee. Fortunately, one thread is Team Crankypants where I should fit right in.

Speaking of teams, you have one week left to support Claudia’s MS Ride this year. As always there are fabulous prizes, and every $10 donation gets you an entry in the raffle. I know money is tight but if you can find some pocket change, now’s the time to put it to very good use for a very good cause in support of a very committed knitter. And just because you don’t knit or spin is no reason to hesitate; I’m sure you can find someone to pass your prize along to [cough] me[cough].

I’m 14 rows away from finishing Laminaria. It will be a race to see if I reach the last chart row before I run out of yarn. I’ve been weighing the dwindling ball of yarn as I go and if the fates aren’t lying should just have enough.  Just adds to the drama.

I’m looking around for more lacey goodness to start next and can’t settle on one or the other. Maybe it’s time to go back to an unfinished project.

Booorrrrring.

I broke down and ordered a ring spindle today. It’s an indulgence and I shouldn’t have, but it’s my birthday.

In two months.

What?

Sunday Supper

T’will be vegetables. Yesterday’s farmers’ market yielded tomatoes, beets, carrots, swiss chard, more lettuce (coming out my ears), baby cucumbers, baby squash, snow peas, peaches, rhubarb, string beans, onions, garlic scapes and eggs. For two people for a week.

Yeah, supper will be vegetables. And something.

Yum.

Yep, Cookie trapped me, too. She’s now on my list of Blogs to Read AFTER Coffee…
I somehow signed up for Summer of Socks, as well.

The whole breaking down thing makes sense to me!

Oh Honey-child! You never, ever, read her before coffee. Her blog needs to come with a warning. :D

Y’all act like I forced you.

I’m so glad you’re getting a ring spindle! They are wonderful. Now you can spin lace weight. :D

    Now I’m hungry…

Beautiful photo. Think of yarn in those blues and greens…

I’m ignoring the stuff about Tour de Fleece. I’ll be lucky if I knit during the Tour de France, much less try to do anything else.
