The color in the detail shots is closer to the true shade, although I think there’s a touch more green in it. It looks like sea foam green. Very pretty and summery.
Laminaria is lovely to look at but I found it frustrating to knit. There’s not one thing that I can put my finger on as annoying; it’s more a reaction to problems I had while knitting.
The Star pattern is lovely, I’ve kept my swatch here on the desk and admire the lines frequently. But I think it’s too dense a pattern to combine with the other more open and lacy charts. By the time I was finished with the blossom (middle) chart, the novelty of turning 3 stitches into 9 was long gone.
I know many people have knit it on Ravelry (more than 1,000 as of today) and the satisfaction rating is high, so what can I say. As with all knitting, YMMV.
It does block out into a lovely shoulderette size shawl; the chevron shape with the curved wings helps it stay in place better than a normal triangular shawl.
Oh and using a double strand of yarn for the bind off creates a stable edge but you’ll be surprised how quickly it eats up the yarn. I finished with less than two yards of yarn left. A close call.
All in all, not a favorite, but lovely anyway.

Very pretty and I like the intricate detail. Good thing you didn’t run out of yarn!
It’s one of the shawls on my list of Shawls I Really Really Want To Knit.
Very very pretty!
You must have been really holding your breath for that last couple of feet of bind-off, eh?
Lovely shawl. YMMV… heh. Yeah. I tend to trust what people I know say rather than the masses.
Just beautiful! Love the color, too. Great knitting!
Oh, Diane, it’s amazing! Well done.
I’m with Stacey. I trust you more than the nameless masses. I want to knit this one, but, every time I look at the pattern, I think it’s going to be a pain to knit.
Maybe one day.
xo
I LOVE how this turned out and I enjoyed touching and admiring it in person. Having said that, I’m so glad you knit it and not me! It would have been frogged long ago no doubt. This pattern looks like a true pain in the…..needles to me! Have a fab holiday w/e!
It’s lovely! I’m glad for the honest impressions of the pattern.
