Most likely the last FO for 2009. These are Carrie’s Christmas socks using my basic pattern. These might be orange socks or they might be pink, but they’re definitely poke-your-eye-out bright. Here are the deets.
Yarn: Regia Flusi (Susi das Sockenmonster) Color 01801, Lot 43449. 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon. There’s a little children’s book about socks and sock monsters made out of the colors available with this yarn. This color is Susi sock monster. Heh. Yes, I bought the book. What?
Needles: 2.25 mm for cuff and foot, 2.5 mm for leg.
Pattern: 64 stitches in the cuff (k1,p1), increasing to 72 stitches for the leg (k4, p2). Decreased back to 64 stitches before starting the heel. Foot is 8 inches around and 8.5 inches long, leg is 7.5 inches long to top of heel. They seemed big to me but no word yet on whether they fit.
Notes: Love the yarn, love the colors, love how it knits up, don’t love that the dye ran like crazy when I washed them. I’m sure it will get better, but Carrie will need to be careful to throw a color blocker sheet in with them the first few times she washes them. I’d buy more of this yarn if I wasn’t already swimming in sock yarn.
The rest of my 2009 knitting time will be taken up with sorting through projects to figure out which ones are worth finshing and which ones will splash in the frog pond. There are a pair of reknit socks that just need the toes fixed and another pair that are too long that need cutting and rekniting but they probably won’t get done until January. The spinning bug is beginning to stir again, time to get the spindles out.

I love those socks! What a great colorway.
I wonder if a soak in some hot water with vinegar would help them.
xo
Damn. There are so many great sock yarns out there, and I already have so much sock yarn it would take nearly a year to knit it all.
Intriguing summary…spinning bugs, frog ponds, and screaming zonker socks. Kmkat has only a YEAR’S worth of sock yarn? She has some catching up to do.
I love those socks too, and I’m surprised that a commercial yarn would run like that! I don’t know why, though.
Can’t wait to see what you have planned for next year!
Those socks should brighten up a dreary day! I second the vinegar suggestion.
Gorgeous, happy-looking socks!! Happy UFO review!
Gorgeous vivid color! Maybe that’s what I need when the winter blahs start to kick in up here – neon sock yarn.
