Pansies that didn’t make it into their containers.

Like Norma, I spent yesterday at our local garden center since it was a warm spring day and my garden fever is at high pitch. While she was buying compost, I limited myself to this year’s supply of garden gloves and pansies for the window box and barrels. I took advantage of the 60-degree temps and started planting when I got home, sowing some of the pansies and a dish with last year’s mesclun lettuce mix.

This morning I woke to 3 inches of snow and it has been steadily falling all afternoon. There’s probably 5 inches out there now. The weather forecast is for the temps to recover early in the week so I’m just viewing this as not having to water the new plantings. But Old Man Winter can leave anytime now and I won’t miss him a bit.

Wow, that band of snow missed us completely! Although it did hit parts of southern WI. Sunny and cool (37º) here today. Your seeds will be fine, I’m sure — and pansies are pretty tough about cold.

Oh dear, what a bummer! I think the snow part is at least mostly supposed to miss us, just rain. Hang in there, spring *will* make it … eventually :o )

Oh poo! Grr to Mother Nature. That’s just nasty! Hoping for a quick melt.

But, ya know, Diane, that spring snows bring loads of natures fertilizer, nitrogen. Those pansies may be knocking on the back door in a week or two looking for more food!!!!!

Ouch. I’m with you. Planted grapes earlier this week … after 3 weeks of 60 and higher. Today? It snows.

    Isn’t March a fun month? o.O

Aieeeeeee! Is that what we have in store for us??

The weather certainly can be interesting this time of year. I took advantage of one of those great days last week and did not realize that some of the brown, scraggly vines I cleared were poison ivy. Fun times!

I hope the pansies made it! I’m ready for April but DC feels almost like May. :D
