Ten on Tuesday

Ten ways to enjoy summer wrote itself in about 5 minutes even with a bonus.

  1. Look at pictures from last winter’s snow and remember how cold you were and how you longed for the long hot days of summer.
  2. Get up close and personal with nature: plant a garden.
  3. Join the Tour de Fleece and spin up some lovely fiber. Even better if the humidity is low enough to spin outside (not this week).
  4. Go on an impromptu picnic for lunch. Throw PB & J sandwiches, veggies, drinks and a couple cookies in a cooler and head for the park just a mile from home. The pleasure is all in a change of scenery.
  5. Grab a book or your knitting and enjoy a few quiet moments on the porch rocker made just for you last summer.
  6. Cook up fresh corn on the cob and BLTs for dinner. BLTs MUST come with corn on the cob or they don’t taste right. And corn on the cob is only for summer eating.
  7. Go for a walk, a bike ride, a swim; paint your house, trim your shrubs, mow your lawn, play with the dog, just get outside.
  8. Get up early and enjoy the sunrise.
  9. Pick your own fruit. Blueberries are great, but peaches are close behind.
  10. Visit the local botanical gardens while they’re in full bloom.
  11. Head for your county fair. 4-H judging, Ferris wheel rides, cotton candy all spell S.U.M.M.E.R.

Love your list! I’m right there with you! I’d add watching the fireflies from the deck while knitting by candlelight, before the mosquitos find you. ;-)

Great list – especially about corn on the cob being only for summer!

I am yearning for last year’s cold weather. Yeah, my AC broke when I caved. Great timing. The rest of the list is good.
