I’ve been playing with knitting for 10 years, after learning the basics when I was a child. I like lace mostly, although I’ve done the usual basics from socks to hats to sweaters.
I’m a pretty good home cook and try to keep our meals healthy, even though we eat dessert more often than we should. I’ve supported our local farmer’s market since it started and with all the recent discussion about eating local, I plan to do even more.
I’m a Vermonter transplanted to the Midwest. We’ve lived outside of Kansas City, MO for over 23 years and watched our small town grow into a bedroom community for the city. I’m mourning the loss of our quiet little town, but admit I appreciate the convenience of the new box stores nearby.
One husband (Jack), 2 step-daughters, 3 grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, eleventy billion nieces and nephews, and 2 cats. Who would insist they should have been listed first if they could read.

Diane: This is Christine’s pastor in Wharton. She told me about your blog so I had to click on! I love to knit and crochet and we have a group here that meets every Tuesday at the local coffee shop and we make prayer shawls, mostly. Every now and then we do afghans or other specialty items. Your lace shawls look terrific! My mom used to knit with mohair alot — I remember the shedding!
My cats would tell yours that they should be listed first, being the royalty they think they are!!
Blessings,
Debbie
Hi Diane,
Thanks so much for helping me with the socks last night at Borders. I decided to take the first one off the circular needles and finish it on dp’s. It’s working a lot better now. I only ended up with one hole on the heel and it is at the top, right before the start of the leg. I forgot to pick up the wrap on that end, although I remembered to do it on the other side. Oh, well! I’ll just have to fix that when I finish the sock.
I may have to have help getting the heel started on the second sock next week, if I can’t remember how from now to then–and that’s been known to happen!
Thanks again!
Oh, yes. Have you heard of a group called No More Homeless Pets? They do spaying and neutering of cats for a donation of $15. I have five kitties, who have all come to me as strays and had four of them “done” with them. The fifth is going this Sunday. They have a website, if you are interested.
