Cancel spring

Mother Nature stomped all over our traces of spring this weekend, leaving behind five inches of snow and ice. I started the morning shoveling snow, not for the first time this winter. Dare I hope it will be the last?
Not.

I went to a woodworking show with Jack this weekend. Small by comparison to events [...]

Still haz brainz for knitting

The invasion of zombies has been vanquished with the aid of sunflowers, peashooters and puff-’shrooms.  I swear I thought Wordtwist was a time suck, this is so much worse.  An hour gets lost in a flash. I’ve mastered all the levels I can in the online and trial versions and have pinky-sworn that I’m not [...]

Gray and white days

This was yesterday morning around 8 am looking north from our deck. I should be able to see the small pond and other homes where that indistinct patch of white is. Instead it’s pretty much fog and mist, mist and fog. Since socked-in fog doesn’t happen all that often here I’m not tired of it [...]

1/16/2010 – Cookie Day

Go wish our Cookie a happy 40th!
A few of her friends are helping her celebrate by posting this loving tribute of what we think she looks like since she won’t post a pic….
Somehow I didn’t expect the red top knot.

Final 2009 FO

Most likely the last FO for 2009. These are Carrie’s Christmas socks using my basic pattern. These might be orange socks or they might be pink, but they’re definitely poke-your-eye-out bright. Here are the deets.
Yarn: Regia Flusi (Susi das Sockenmonster) Color 01801, Lot 43449. 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon.  There’s a little children’s book about [...]

Good times, good deeds

Every year our little Knitting in the Neighborhood group abandons its straight-back chairs at Borders to sit our tushes down for an evening of drinks, food and laughter at our holiday party.
Frankie and Pam
Frankie pulls it all together and as always did a marvelous job finding a restaurant that could handle a bunch of [...]

Prizes and goodies all over the place

Lookee, lookee what arrived in the mail this week! My very own audio book of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I won it in a drawing that Gale at She Shoots Sheep Shots was holding on her blog.
If you don’t “know” Gale, you should, she’s a great photographer and she also teaches a [...]

Twice-knit or twice-baked

I have to start with a halfway decent picture at the top to make up for the crummy picture that follows.
I miss the light that makes photography so much easier in the summer. Except for high noon you can always find a place to position your knitting that will show off the details without washing [...]

Julie’s mitts

One of the pleasures of the temp assignment that’s ending was meeting Julie, another temp. We clicked during the training sessions when we realized that we had similar people skills (no tolerance for idiots). We don’t have a lot else in common: she’s a personal trainer in her spare time, tall, thin and fashionable. I’m [...]
